About Massage TherapyWhat is massage therapy and what can it do for you?![]() Massage Therapy is the “Assessment of Soft Tissue and Joints of the Body” and is associated with stress reduction, muscular overuse, and several chronic pain syndromes. Massage Therapy works to reduce pain before it starts. It may also inhibit pain post trauma or injury, especially if massage treatments are conducted immediately. In the case of injury massage can assist in decreasing inflammation and increasing circulation and nutrient uptake to the injured tissue which enhances healing time. Massage Therapy can be both Relaxing and Therapeutic, such that, people with functional diseases, like Hyperkyphosis, Pes Planus, and Whiplash, can be treated with a good chance of recovery. Massage may also be beneficial to those suffering from auto-immune diseases such as: Breast Cancer, Lymphatic Cancer, AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s etc. Prior to treatment, clients must always give consent to treat, either written or verbal. This gives the client the right to work with the therapist in developing a safe and effective treatment plan to augment their own needs. At any time throughout the treatment the client has the ability to renege their consent and either discontinue the work being done or modify the treatment to whatever the client feels is more within their guidelines. |
