My Hippocratic Oath
I Promise:
- to put my clients needs before my own.
- to maintain confidentiality except when I have obtained written consent by the client, or by a ‘substitute decision maker’ in cases where the client is incapable of informed consent, to release information to another health care professional.
- to explain risks and benefits of the massage prior to treatment.
- to maintain a professional relationship with my clients via continuing education courses, to further meet the needs of my clients, and by referring to another health care professional when the work required by the client is out of my scope of practice, or above my knowledge base.
- not to ignore a condition or a potentially life threatening disease. For example, if I notice a lump, or abnormal skin pathology during the course of a treatment I promise to advise my client of the possibilities and direct them to their medical doctor for a check-up.
